As per the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), 2013 will require all construction companies in South Africa to conduct risk assessments for all work sites and this includes:
On site scaffolding is a form of elevated work platform and is considered an aerial work environment. Scaffolding falls under the category of “Risk Assessments”.

The training programs are practical based and uses OHSTraining’s proprietary training manuals and graphics to ensure that participants achieve 100% pass rate.

The OHSTraining Basic Scaffold Training course has been designed with an accredited 1 day pass, but it can be extended to 2 days or longer depending on the needs of the client.

OHSTraining is the official national training provider for the Scaffold Industry in South Africa. The Occupational Health & Safety Training (OHST) has been providing scaffolding training throughout the country since 2004.

We offer scaffolding risk assessments for companies, scaffolding team leaders and site managers as well as scaffolding training for companies and their staff.

We are pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to benefit from our scaffolding risk assessments. These documents are used to identify any potential risks before carrying out any work at height. The risk assessments ensure that the minimum requirements for working at heights are met and provide a record of compliance with the minimum requirements of Regulation 18, part 1 of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.

Our scaffolding risk assessment has been specifically developed to assist you in identifying potential hazards associated with work at height. This form is to be used by all personnel who are required to work at height – regardless of their status or duty level within the building industry.

The training will not only ensure compliance to the OHSA Standards, but also an awareness of the dangers associated with working on a Scaffold, and the correct procedures that should be followed while erecting or dismantling.

There are two options when opting for scaffolding training. The employer can either opt for an instructor-led course, which will take place on site where there is a scaffold present; or, they can opt for an online risk assessment training, which will take place in-house.

Quantities of each scaffold varies depending on the job at hand, but there are four main types of scaffolds used all over South Africa. These are:

  1. Cantilever Scaffold
  2. Platform Scaffold

We deliver training through face to face, in class training and in distance learning format. Our courses are designed for professional scaffolders in all phases of the industry.
